Hello, our flax is probably fully ripe now. I don't know exactly how big the bundles should be for drying. How bad is it if they get rain again while drying?

  • Greetings, I'm in the Gänserndorf district and I'm curious to see if there are people in the neighbourhood who would like to join in. My flax is already yellow and I would like to harvest it. Did I see correctly that it is pulled out by the root, i.e. not cut? Mid-July is definitely too late for me by the time the video comes. Kind regards, Bertha

    • Yes, it is pulled out. As much as there is room for in one hand, then it is tied together with a stalk and put up to dry. I'm near Graz and harvested my flax today. Best regards, Bärbl

Hello, I live in Gallneukirchen and would also be happy to process the fibres together. I will also wait until they turn yellow before harvesting. In the meantime, they are still flowering beautifully, but in this heat the stems are bound to change colour soon. I look forward to exchanging ideas and working together! Lg, Mona Dunzendorfer

Greetings, I am also interested in exchanging experiences, learning and getting to know each other in the Mühlviertel area.
    Greetings Gudrun

  • Hello, it's great that we keep getting information so that we can better assess and compare the (growth) status of our flax.
I have been uploading photos on an ongoing basis, including a recent photo of the beautiful flowers.
I would like to wait until they are yellow before harvesting so that I can also harvest seeds.
For the processing of the fibres I would like to work with like-minded people and possibly already experienced people, somewhere in the Linz or Mühlviertel area.
    Could I get some contacts?
LG, I'm looking forward to more videos, Renate Brabec
