Join us on our journey to the roots of flax - and experience a week full of exciting encounters, traditional craftsmanship, regional delights and lots of textile passion!
Our journey takes us to Upper Austria and Southern Bohemia - to people who live their passion for linen, blueprinting and natural fibres and want to share it with us.
What you can expect:
4 August - Arrival
You travel individually to Passau - from there we pick you up comfortably by shuttle bus and take you to our hotel in Breitenberg. Arrive, unpack and get to know each other.
5 August - Haslach: Textile crafts and regional treasures
- We start with a visit to the Textile Centre Haslach - a place full of history, innovation and inspiration.
- Then it's on to the Haslach oil millwhere we experience how fine oil is made from linseed.
- We enjoy a good lunch together.
- In the afternoon, we take a look behind the scenes at Leitner Linen - fine linen in a modern shape.
6 August - From flax to jeans
- In the morning we discover Viehböck linenhow fine fabrics are created - with great care and attention to detail.
- Lunch in Helfenberg.
- Afterwards we visit Stefan Fölserwhich turns Austrian flax into real jeans - sustainable, stylish and regionally produced.
7 August - Blue printing, city air & museum
- We look at the Wagner blue dye works over the shoulder during traditional dyeing.
- Lunch and a cosy get-together City tour through Freistadt are also on the programme.
- In the afternoon we dive into the Gutau Dyeing Museum even deeper into the world of blueprinting.
8 August - Time travel in the open-air museum
- A whole day in the Finsterau and Massing open-air museums - with original farmhouses and crafts from the old days.
9 August - A touch of Bohemia
- We discover the beautiful Český Krumlov - A medieval town straight out of a picture book.
- After lunch, the South Bohemian Museum in České Budějovice with an impressive collection of textiles.
10 August - Spinning, ratcheting, saying goodbye
- At the end we meet at the Breitenberg Weaving Museum to the Spinning room - a cosy get-together with a spinning wheel, yarn and stories.
The accommodation
You live in the cosy Breitenberger Hof or in the Breitenberg Hunting Lodge - Both lovingly managed houses in the middle of the countryside.
